What We Do
New Leaf Center provides genetic testing and medical care for children and some adults with inherited disorders. We are a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization funded largely by individual donors, businesses and churches. The clinic was established in 2013 to provide specific medical care to children with inherited disorders in our Amish and Mennonite communities.
New Leaf Center is intended to be a medical home for special children. A place where families can feel comfortable bringing their children, not only for diagnostic evaluation but also for the child’s ongoing primary care. Our physicians will develop practical care plans where families will see the improvement in the quality of life and the reduction of the cost of healthcare.
New Leaf Center works closely with area specialists to coordinate effective, centralized plans for the child when necessary.
Our pediatricians want to provide time and attention to understanding the needs and expectations of each patient. We believe that a trusting relationship between the family and caregiver is a vital component of quality healthcare.
Our goal is to partner with families in this work by providing clear information, quality care and compassion.

Home Visits
Our model of care and the way we are funded allows us the unique opportunity to provide occasional visits to patient homes. Priority is given to established patients who are at the end of life or who are difficult to transport.
Lab Services
Our clinic nurses are trained to collect samples for routine lab work and genetic testing.
Our in-clinic lab allows us to collect, store and ship samples to appropriate labs.
Subspecialty Clinics
New Leaf Center collaborates with Akron Children’s Hospital providers to offer subspecialty clinics at the clinic. The subspecialty clinics offered include cardiology, neurology, vision and metabolic disorder. New Leaf Physicians will refer patients when necessary for visits with Akron Children’s Hospital specialists.
A hearty thank you for everything you have done for us and keep on being a blessing. You will be blessed.
